We’re
so fortunate that our concert series can continue at the Living Arts Centre and
we’re most grateful for the support of the Mt Barker Waldorf School. So far
we’ve enjoyed four fantastic performances and now we’re eagerly anticipating
the return of Konstantin Shamray on Sunday
15 June.
This astounding young pianist, who won the hearts of Australian audiences at the 2008 Sydney International Piano Competition, is making his mark on the international stage. He’s about to finish his post graduate studies in Germany and has recently been in Moscow for performances with the Russian National Philharmonic under Vladimir Spivakov and for a Beethoven recital for the Moscow Philharmonie. Following his brief visit to Australia he returns to Germany to perform at the prestigious Kissingen Festival.
He has chosen a magnificent program for us including Schumann’s Carnaval, Sonata Op 22 by Beethoven, two ballades by Chopin and Miroirs by Ravel. If you haven’t already booked click here.

Sharing our vision, the James and Diana Ramsay Foundation recently announced a major contribution towards the acquisition of a magnificent cello crafted by JB Guadagnini in 1743. Their gift of $510,000 over three years has given our campaign a tremendous boost and when added to the generous support of other patrons who have so far contributed $92,000 and the pledge from the Klein Family Foundation of $640,000 we are well on the way to reaching the purchase price of $1.83M. Once this has been achieved, the instrument will be transferred to Ngeringa Arts and held in perpetuity for future generations of Australian musicians and music lovers.
We thank everyone who has contributed and encourage all music lovers to play a part in creating this extraordinary legacy.
The instrument is currently on loan to Sharon Draper, cellist of the Australian String Quartet pictured above at their recent performance, which was generously sponsored by NAB Private Wealth.

As
custodians of another rare Guadagnini instrument, which was purchased by the
people of South Australia in the 1950s, we are delighted to announce that Sophie Rowell has been awarded the loan
of this violin for a further 2 years. Many of you will remember her
extraordinary performance for us on the Anzac weekend. She certainly showed
what she and the instrument are capable of! With a busy concert schedule both
in Australia and overseas, Sophie will ensure the violin continues to be heard
in South Australia.
